Active roof leaks have been identified on the north side of the upper gym roof . Investigation revealed soft roof sheathing and corrosion at nail heads , indicating water intrusion beneath existing shingles . The affected area is approximately 20 feet by 30 feet (600 square feet ) beginning at the eave edge . The roof assembly is believed to include rigid insulation over interior spaces with stepped transitions at overhangs . Concealed rot or damage beneath the insulation may be present and will be evaluated during demolition . SCOPE OF WORK The Contractor shall provide all labor , materials , equipment , and supervision necessary to complete the following work : 4.1 Demolition o Remove and legally dispose of all existing roofing materials within the 20 ' x 30 ' area , including shingles , underlayment , sheathing , rigid insulation , vapor barrier , and associated metal flashing . Following demolition , the exposed deck shall be visually inspected by the District's Representative . 4.2 Vapor Barrier Install new 6-mil polyethylene vapor barrier in all areas receiving new insulation . 4.3 Insulation Install new rigid polyisocyanurate (polyiso ) insulation , like -for -like thickness . 4.4 Roof Sheathing Install new 1/2" CDX plywood roof sheathing , mechanically fastened per code . 4.5 Underlayment o o Install Malarkey 401 Ice & Water Shield at both eave edges . Install ASTM - rated synthetic underlayment integrated with existing roofing . 4.6 Sheet Metal Flashing . Install 24 -gauge Kynar 500 eave flashing . o Install 24 -gauge Kynar 500 end -wall flashing at insulated / non - insulated transitions . 4.7 Composition Roofing o Install starter course at eave edges . o Install Malarkey Highlander 40 -year composition shingles tied into existing roofing . Hand -nail shingles using hot -dipped galvanized nails (six nails per shingle ). 4.8 Clean -up and Debris Disposal o Clean work area and remove all debris before leaving the work site each day . School will be in session during this project . Clean work area and remove all debris after project completion .
