Remove and replace existing 12-inch diameter pipe with 12-inch diameter PVC SDR 35 +- 167-linear feet from Manhole No. 2899 to Manhole No. 2900. Question Submission Deadline: January 12, 2026, 12:00pm Bidders shall submit all inquiries regarding this RFQ via the OpenGov portal. The Gary Sanitary District (GSD) is seeking sealed proposals from qualified vendors for the supply and delivery of Sanitary Sewer Repair 355 King Street, located at 355 King Street, Gary, IN. Remove and replace existing 12-inch diameter pipe with 12-inch diameter PVC SDR 35 +- 167-linear feet from Manhole No. 2899 to Manhole No. 2900. Provide all specified items in accordance with the specified directions below and all other applicable standards. The Scope of work shall include the following: ( Remove and replace existing 12-inch diameter pipe with 12-inch diameter PVC SDR 35 +- 167-linear feet from Manhole No. 2899 to Manhole No. 2900. Contractor shall ensure pipe penetrations are sealed and watertight. Mandrel test required upon completion of work with GSD staff present. Minimum pipe slope 0.22% and shall be uniform from manhole to manhole. Reconnect/repair active encountered "Wye" connection for existing service lines/laterals including drainage pipes that are affected. Limit of service lateral repairs is the easement or right-of-way. The cost to be included in the price of the lump sum work. "Wye" connection for new pipe must be a molded integral part of the pipe section. Use of Saddles are not permissible. Use of granular bedding (6-inch minimum) for new sewer pipe installation. Backfill and compact excavated area in accordance with ASTM-D-698 and as specified in the relevant specification sections. Compaction shall be 95 percentage of maximum dry density as determined by the Standard Proctor Test (ASTM-698). Excavate, remove, and dispose offsite damage sewer and appurtenances. Contractors shall field verify size, depth and location of sewer, manholes, and appurtenances. Contractor shall be responsible for locating all utilities in the project area. Clean the sewer from Manhole No. 2899 to Manhole No. 2900 and remove all deposits upon completion of work. Televise (CCTV) and video the sewer from Manhole No. 2899 to Manhole No. 2900 upon completion of work. All CCTV videos shall have audio and be done to NASCCO standards. Submit a copy of the CCTV video(s) and inspection log on a flash drive or other forms of digital format, and inspection log to the Engineering Department. If the digital video format quality is deemed substandard, the video will be rejected by the Engineering staff. If video shows leaks or poor workmanship, work shall be remedied and re-CCTV to show the final condition of the sewer upon completion and acceptance. Support/protect utility poles, building structures, driveways, and underground utilities as necessary. Contractor shall ensure proper flow of sewage at all times during construction. Provide bypass pumping of sewage as required. Contractor shall perform dewatering activities as required. All work must be done by experienced, trained, and properly certified technicians that are knowledgeable of the methods of installation and repair of sewer pipe and appurtenances. Secure necessary permits, licenses, and notifications for construction, including but not limited to the Gary Sanitary District Stormwater Permit, Gary Board of Public Works and Safety Street Closing Permit and the Gary Board of Public Works and Safety Road Cut Permit. Perform video of the work area to show the condition of all existing surface structures and landscape prior to site mobilization. Provide a copy to the Owner (GSD). Restore disturbed driveway, sidewalk, fencing, and landscaped/unpaved areas to equal or better than existing condition. Erosion Control: The Contractor must take appropriate action to reduce potential environmental damage and work delays related to erosion control. Before start of on-site construction activities, submit to the Engineer for review and approval a plan for sediment and erosion control measures and management, including planned maintenance during execution of the work. Maintenance of Traffic: The Contractor must take appropriate action to maintain the safe flow of traffic around the project work site. Before the start of onsite activities, submit to the Engineer for review and approval a plan for maintaining the flow of traffic through the work zone. The Contractor shall work with Gary Public Transportation to ensure that no route will be affected by the Work. Safety and Protection: Contractor shall be solely responsible for initiating, maintaining, and supervising all safety precautions and programs in connection with the work. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions for the safety of, and shall provide the necessary protection to prevent damage, injury, or loss to all persons on the site or who may be affected by the work. The minimum equipment required shall be as follows: Steel excavation shield/sheeting and shoring Dewater pumps and hoses Crawler backhoe and support units Laser Beam for alignment and elevation control CONTRACTOR TIME: If the Contractor is unable to take over the project site immediately or is unable to complete the project within the time frame giving below, the contract will be rescinded and awarded to the next lowest bidder. The Contractor agrees that the repair shall commence immediately of issuance of Notice Proceed and be completed with 60 days of said notice to proceed. NOTE: Location of new and existing lines are approximate. Contractor shall locate and verify all existing utilities in the field. Existing utilities have been plotted from available records and surveys. The existence of underground utilities, etc., which are not shown and which may be encountered will not be a basis for a claim for extra work. Utility locate was made on December 16, 2025. Utility Locate Ticket No. is 25121603771, and will expire on January 5, 2026. Contractor shall field verify the pipe sizes before bidding the project.
