Renovation of an educational facility in La Mirada, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 53,909-square-foot, one-story above grade educational facility.
This project includes, but is not limited to, the replacement of the existing fire alarm system with a complete new fire alarm system including strobes, speakers, speaker/strobes, smoke detectors, heat detectors, conductors, control panel, annunciator, and pull stations; minor trenching between buildings; and patching and painting. All bids shall be made and presented only on the forms provided by the District. Bids shall be received in the Purchasing Department of the NORWALK-LA MIRADA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT and shall be opened and publicly read aloud thereafter. It is each bidder's sole responsibility to ensure its bid is timely delivered and received at the location designated. Any bid received after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids shall be returned to the bidder unopened. Pre-qualification requirements: Prospective bidders are required to submit a completed set of prequalification documents on forms provided by the District. Bids will not be accepted if a Contractor has not been prequalified, when prequalification is required. Each bidder must be a licensed contractor pursuant to the California Business and Professions Code, possess a valid and active Class B License at the time of award and throughout the duration of the contract, and state the California State License number on the bidder's proposal. Subcontractors must be licensed for relevant trades. Each bidder must submit a list of designated subcontractors as required by the Subletting and Subcontracting Fair Practices Act. The project has 3% Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise participation goals. Bidders must provide one of the following forms of bidder's security: cash, cashier's check, certified check, or bidder's bond executed by a California admitted surety. Bidders must comply with prevailing wage laws. Contractors and subcontractors must be currently registered and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. Separate payment and performance bonds, each in an amount equal to 100% of the total contract amount, are required. Requests for substitutions must be made at the time of bid on the required form. No bidder may withdraw any bid for 90 calendar days after the bid opening date. The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive irregularities or informalities in any bids or the bidding process. All inquiries concerning the scope of work for Bid No. 202526-5 should be submitted in writing and emailed to the attention of Jerome Cygan Jr, Facilities Coordinator, Facilities, Planning & Construction, jcygan@nlmusd.org no later than 2:00 p.m. on the 12 th day of February, 2026. All inquiries concerning the contract documents are to be submitted in writing and emailed to the attention of Steve Fericean, Director, Purchasing & Warehouse, at sfericean@nlmusd.org. PROVIDE FIRE ALARM UPGRADE ONLY & PATCH/REPAIR WORK FOR AREAS AFFECTED BY FIRE ALARM INSTALLATION. LIMITED CIVIL SCOPE OF TRENCHING FOR CONDUIT BETWEEN BUILDINGS 30 & 40. NO ADDED FLOOR AREA, STRUCTURAL OR ACCESS SCOPE. (NO DEMOLITION SHALL BEGIN UNTIL PLANS INCLUDING DEMOLITION WORK HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY DSA.
