The Charlevoix County Road Commission invites qualified contractors to bid the following road work: A. Freesoil Avenue: 530 feet of grading, 22A aggregate, bituminous paving, shoulders, and restoration. B. Maple Street: 845 feet of grading, 22A aggregate, bituminous paving, shoulders, and restoration. Both roads are county local roads in St. James Township. Bidders must use Road Commission furnished forms available at the main office, with bids plainly marked as to contents and submitted at the main office before the scheduled bid opening. PROJECT LOCATION (see enclosed map) Freesoil Ave. (530-FT) - Main St. North 530-FT to pavement end. Maple St. (845-FT) - Main St. to Lake Dr. (entire length) Freesoil Ave. (530-FT) - Contractor shall grade outward from existing 18-FT bituminous roadway 2-FT each side (a cleanup cut) to accommodate new 2-FT 23A gravel/topsoil shoulders. Contractor shall sweep existing 18-FT bituminous roadway prior to paving. A 4EL, Mod. Bituminous wedge shall be placed first from the centerline outward to existing bituminous edge to maintain the 18-FT pavement width, followed by a 165#/SYD bituminous overlay resulting in a final 3.5-Inch minimum outside edge pavement thickness. New 2-FT 23A gravel/topsoil shoulders shall consist of field blending new 23A aggregate and topsoil; final shoulder stabilization shall be grass/fertilizer mix, as shown on the Typical Cross Section. Other work includes Freesoil Avenue pavement removal (from Main St. approach North 100-FT), sidewalk removal and replacement, gravel driveway restoration, and restoration. Maple Street (845-FT) - The Contractor shall grade the existing gravel road to the proposed cross section to accommodate a 24- FT wide new aggregate base. A miscellaneous 22A Aggregate quantity is included for any necessary grade adjustments. A 4EL, Mod. Bituminous pavement (330#/SYD total in two equal lifts) shall be placed to a final 22-FT pavement width. New 1-FT 23A gravel/topsoil shoulders shall consist of field blending new 23A aggregate and topsoil; final shoulder stabilization shall be grass/fertilizer mix, as shown on the Typical Cross Section.
