As of February 18, 2026, project was awarded to Turnbull Environmental Inc, but awarded amount is not available. Construction in this project will generally consist of hydrologic enhancements to a previously constructed shrimp pond operation on a Conservation 20/20 Preserve. Site work will consist of site clearing, excavation in existing shrimp pond areas, and construction of two (2) weirs and the installation of one (1) berm. Soil disturbing activities will include: clearing and grubbing, installing a stabilized construction entrance if necessary, erosion and sediment controls; re-grading and the construction of two (2) weirs within the former shrimp ponds areas and the installation of one (1) 100 ft earthen berm. Lee County Board of County Commissioners seeks to contract with a qualified CONTRACTOR to provide construction services for hydrologic enhancements to the former shrimp pond operation on a Conservation 20/20 Preserve located in the western portion of the preserve. 17.2. The proposed construction activities include site clearing, excavation in existing shrimp pond areas, and construction of two (2) weirs, the installation of one (1) 100 ft. earthen berm, and re-contouring of the current shrimp pond area to create two distinctive stormwater management areas for enhancement purposes. Two weirs are proposed to allow water to continue flow west into the adjacent mangroves and Gulf of Mexico. One weir will connect the freshwater storage area to the brackish water. A second weir is proposed to connect brackish water to the existing mangroves. 17.3. The plans delineate the project access as well as the specific improvement locations and project requirements. The work will be constructed utilizing land-based equipment. If necessary, small boats may be used to support deploying and retrieving turbidity curtain, and turbidity sampling.
