The existing exterior elevator located at Nierenberg Hall is a hydraulic system with 3 stops and a machine room. Elevator modernization will also be a new hydraulic system utilizing the existing control room for the new elevator equipment, electrical power, lighting, and HVAC. The hydraulic oil in the elevator system will be drained/removed by the contractor. The contractor will install a new hydraulic power unit, including a new tank and hydraulic oil. Project includes structural steel repairs to the elevator housing structure. In addition, it addresses water intrusion issues of the structure. Project documents also include interior elevators, but all associated work with these two elevators is not included in this project bid. Estimated project duration is 400 calendar days. Bids and other documents required to be submitted with the Bid shall be a single PDF uploaded via the Unity Construct Bidding Module. Only prequalified bidders will be allowed to submit a Bid on this project. A mandatory pre-bid conference/job walk is required for all bidders who wish to be eligible for the project. Bid security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid, excluding alternates, must accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond must be listed in the latest published State of California Department of Insurance list of insurers admitted to transact surety insurance in this state. The successful bidder will be required to have a current and active California contractor's license: B (General Building Contractor). The successful bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. Contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations at bid time and must use DIR's electronic certified payroll reporting system. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage ($15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements. Estimated construction cost: $900,000. Pre-qualification requirements: Only the following prequalified general building contractors are eligible to submit bids: Align Builders, Inc.; Bycor General Contractors, Inc.; C2 Building Group; Dome Construction Corporation. All contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations at bid time. The successful bidder will be required to hold a current and active B: General Building Contractor license in California.
