The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking proposals for the supply and delivery of fully automated bear-resistant garbage bins. The objective is to provide up to 4,595 bins throughout the municipality to minimize human-bear conflicts by preventing bears and wildlife from accessing household waste. Bins must be new, unused, and meet certification standards by the Wildlife Management Institute and Interagency Grizzly-Resistant Bear Committee. They must be robust, compatible with RMWB refuse collection trucks, and feature easily interchangeable locking mechanisms. The initial order is expected for 2026, with the possibility of additional orders over the term of the agreement. Bidders must submit a sample bin for testing, provide required certifications, and upload a specification sheet, color options, and a complete spare parts list. Submission of mandatory forms and pricing through the Bidding System is required. All proposals must include detailed pricing, which should be firm for twelve months and all-inclusive, covering labor, materials, freight, insurance, delivery, installation, branding, and overhead. No minimum order quantities will be accepted. The successful proponent must guarantee replacement part availability during the warranty period and handle all associated fees for parts and transportation. The performance period is three years, with the option to extend by up to two additional one-year terms. Proponents must comply with insurance and Workers’ Compensation Board requirements prior to award. Vendor performance will be evaluated throughout the contract term.
