OPWDD's Capital District DDSO intends to procure services to design repair for steel structure (per the attached scope of work) pursuant to its discretionary purchasing authority. CR#:2130853 QUESTIONS DEADLINE DATE: 02/10/2026 QUESTIONS DEADLINE TIME: 2:30 PM This project is for professional engineer services to evaluate a corroded 24-inch steel cooling tower support beam with a 10-inch bottom flange, spanning approximately 22.5 feet, within Building 4 at OPWDD O.D. Heck Campus, Schenectady, NY. The evaluation will determine the structural integrity of the beam and the extent of the corrosion damage. The engineer will then design and specify the necessary repair procedures to restore the beam to its required load-bearing capacity in accordance with all applicable codes and standards. The bottom flange of the beam is visibly oxidized through in areas, and the web also shows significant oxidation. An initial repair plan has been developed, but a stamped engineering design is required before any repair work proceeds. Scope - Includes but is not limited to: 1. Data review and preliminary assessment, including a site visit and review of original design drawings. 2. Field evaluation to determine extent of corrosion, thickness testing, location and dimensions. 3. Determine necessary repair strategy to restore beam to required load capacity. 4. Prepare P.E. Stamped drawings, specifications and temporary shoring design. 5. Evaluate additional repairs that may be discovered during contractors cleaning process. 6. Inspection and review of completed repairs. 7. Provide power washing, cleaning and paint specifications. 8. Work must comply with NY State Uniform Code, AISC specifications, AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code, and Society for Protective Coatings
