The Bureau of Technical Services requires assistance field testing and casting concrete specimens for multiple projects. Concrete mixes in Wisconsin have increased the use of Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) to improve durability. Some SCMs require additional time to activate and gain strength in the concrete mixture which may mean 28-day test results for acceptance may not be the most accurate representation of concrete performance The project will evaluate the impact of extended curing on concrete strength specimens, investigate reducing compressive strength specimen size from 6x12 to 4x8, and compare surface resistivity at 56 days with surface resistivity values measured using the accelerated cure method to determine if Standard Specification requirements need to be revised. Perform field testing (air, slump, unit weight, and temperature) and cast the specimens in multiple projects across the state and deliver them to the central lab for testing. The consultant will travel to projects statewide, primarily between April and October. The Method of Contractor Selection Has Not Been Determined at This Time.
