General Contracting, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and/or Fire Alarm work will occur in the elevator machine room, shaft, pit, and the elevator lobby on each floor. Minor patch and paint will be required for each elevator lobby. The project involves major modernizations in a working hospital which will remain open to the public during all phases of work. The elevators to be renovated are the main public access elevators for the OSU East Tower and are heavily used. Successful elevator control logic will be essential so that the new system transports the public between floors efficiently with minimal wait times. The work includes replacing the existing operational equipment and controls of elevators 4, 5, 6, and 7 for code compliance and to meet OSU building standards. Interior cab finishes are also part of the scope. During construction, three of the four elevators must always remain open and operational. A complete review, analysis, and Program of Requirements (POR) will be required prior to starting schematic design. The project must be designed and delivered within a collaborative BIM-enabled environment following The Ohio State University BIM Project Delivery Standards. The primary firm submitting must have BIM expertise capable of meeting these standards. A walk-through of the project site will be scheduled with shortlisted firms prior to interviews and attendance is highly recommended. As of June 1, 2026, the project is in design. The construction document completion timeline has not been released. Construction is slated to begin September 2026. However, the firm timeline has not been determined.
