Reference Number 0000410187 The project will coordinate with and is to follow other pavement maintenance operations and is to commenced within 10-days after the Notice to Proceed. Completion of the Work is required as specified in the Agreement. All questions will be answered and posted as addendums to the project. Bid Security in the amount of 5% the total Bid Price must accompany each Bid in the form specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Within 5-business days of the date of the Notice of Award, the successful Bidder will be required to furnish Performance Bond and a Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the Contract Amount, guaranteeing faithful performance and the payment of all bills and obligations arising from the performance of the Agreement. No Bids will be considered which are received after the time indicated. Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % - Payment Bond 100 % The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to accept that bid or combination of bids, if any, which in its sole and absolute judgment will under all circumstances best serve the Owner's interest. No Bid will be accepted from any firm, person, or corporation, who is a defaulter as to surety or otherwise, or is deemed incompetent, irresponsible, or unreliable by the Owner. General Town of Frederick Construction and Design Standard drawings and specifications shall be applied as noted and referenced as needed. Furnish and install all labor and materials site preparation activities including: Crack Seal: The sealant shall be heated according to the manufacturer's recommendations, applied at the manufacturer's temperature and installed flush with the pavement surface. Immediately after the crack is filled, excess material shall be leveled off of the surface by a squeegee, a shoe attached to the applicator wand, or other suitable means. The squeegeed material shall be centered in the crack and shall not exceed 3-inches in width nor 1/16-inch above the surface of asphalt. Any crack sealer showing settling, shrinkage, or a depression in excess of 1/4-inch below the pavement surface shall be refilled. Cracks shall be cleaned with compressed air prior to application of crack seal material. All cracks larger than 1/8-inch and less than one inch in width are to be sealed. Crack sealing will occur mostly on the roadway shoulder, and at areas where patching is not being used. Patching: Saw cut and remove asphalt from roadway section, patch with GR S and SX hot mix asphalt pavement and compacted aggregate base course per the Town of Frederick Design Standards and Construction Specifications (Table 500-12) based on the roadway's designation (i.e. Arterial, Collector, Local) (Table 500-11). Re-compaction of aggregate base and subgrade preparation shall be included in the cost of the asphalt patch. Addition of tonnage should budget permit. Manholes and water valve boxes in patching areas shall be raised, if necessary, to the asphalt surface per the Town of Frederick Design Standards and Construction Specifications. Typical patching for this contract includes equal amounts of crack patching of 3-ft width and variable size block patching 6 to 12-ft in lane width in varying travel lengths. Manholes and Valve Boxes: The Contractor will be required to work around all existing utility facilities and to seal up to the edges of said facilities. During sealing operations, the Contractor shall cooperate with utility owners having surface facilities and shall cover and completely protect said facilities with an appropriate material during the operation and shall remove immediately after. The Contractor shall exercise care to prevent slurry seal or chip seal surfacing from being deposited on concrete surfaces and shall remove slurry seal or chip seal surfacing from surfaces not designated to be sealed. Covering of slurry seal or chip seal surfacing on concrete surfaces with sand, cement, or paint will not be acceptable. Completion- 90-calendar days
