Demolition and renovation of an educational facility in Valdosta, Georgia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility.
Qualified bidders are invited to submit bids for the interior renovation to Valdosta City Schools PLC Building, located at 2037 East Park Ave., Valdosta, GA 31602. The scope of work consists of demolition and renovation of various exterior and interior building components, installation of new acoustical ceilings, lighting, power, low voltage, and mechanical systems, and installation of new audio visual systems. Bids will be received for a General Contract covering all trades. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain the required insurance and bonds, including a Performance Bond and separate Labor and Material Bond. Bid security in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount must be submitted with each bid. Bidders are required to attend a mandatory prebid conference. Only complete sets of procurement and contracting documents will be issued to prime bidders, available after contacting Print Life Printing and Supplies, Inc., or viewing them online. The successful bidder must begin procuring materials upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and complete the work by the specified completion date. A. Scope of Project Standards and Description The cabling and wiring placed for voice and data communications on this undertaking shall be "Unshielded Twisted Pair" type and conform to the requirements contained in the latest editions of the National Electric Code (NEC) and the latest editions of the following American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications: 1. ANSI/TIA 568-Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard 2. TIA 569-Commercial Building Standard for Telecommunications Pathways and Spaces 3. ANSI/TIA/EIA 606-Administration Standard for Commercial Telecommunications Infrastructure 4. ANSI/J-STD 607-Commercial Building Grounding (earthing) and Bonding Requirements for Telecommunications 5. ISO/IEC 11801 Information technology -- Generic cabling for customer premises 6. Addendums to TIA/EIA 568 B. Specifications for the Fiber Optic Backbone, Jacks, Outlets, Horizontal Wiring, Racks, and Patch Panels. A. The work covered by this section of the specifications shall include all material, labor, hardware, software, firmware and programming to install a complete and operating system as described herein and shown on the drawings. It shall be complete with all necessary materials, labor, hardware, software, firmware and programming specifically tailored for this installation. It shall be possible to permanently modify the software on site by using a system administrator software network interface. B. The intent of this specification is to maximize communications between the classroom and administrative areas utilizing VoIP Technology while enhancing school safety and reducing maintenance, operational, and installation costs. C. Under this specification, the system shall provide a complete VoIP Communication System for entire school as indicated on the drawings. D. The Communication System shall provide VoIP distribution of intercom, overhead paging, emergency paging, class change time tones, emergency tones and program material. E. Any and all miscellaneous materials, labor, hardware, software, firmware and programming that is not listed in this specification section that is required to provide a complete and operating system shall be provided as part of the scope of work for this installation. F. The work covered by this section of the specifications shall be coordinated with any and all trades that are affected by the installation of this system. All work is to be complete and as required and specified elsewhere under these project specifications. G. All of the actual required system components and cabling are not shown or specified as this varies between acceptable manufacturers and suppliers. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to obtain this information from the acceptable supplier and or manufacturer and include cost of same in his bid.
