This project involves the full or partial removal of three (3) low head dams and associated work on the Mahoning River within the City of Youngstown. The selected Design / Build Team shall perform the tasks described in the Statement of Qualifications Statement provided by the City of Youngstown. Additional dam removal projects are in various stages of planning and implementation downstream of these dams. Upon removal of these Youngstown dams and in conjunction with removal of dams in the City of Struthers and the Village of Lowellville, approximately 25 miles of the Mahoning River will be free-flowing for the first time in over a century. As more of these dams and their accompanying sediments are removed, the recovery potential of the Mahoning River will improve greatly. Project Goals generally include the following: 1. Restore the Mahoning River in the City of Youngstown through dam removal efforts, which will improve water quality, river morphology, fish passage, and aquatic habitat. 2. To achieve an increase in habitat quality and ecological uplift of the Mahoning River within the City of Youngstown in order to establish a foundation for long-term attainment of WWH status through the re-establishment of improved riffle, run, pool, and glide morphology. 3. Be a part of a coordinated effort to remove Mahoning River dams and to improve Mahoning River water quality and ecological potential while creating an impetusfor the revitalization of the Mahoning River corridor. Each Design / Build Team shall submit a total of six (6) printed copies of the SOQ and one flash drive that contains all submitted documents in a sealed envelope clearly marked on the outside of the envelope "Statement of Qualifications for the Mahoning River Youngstown Dam Removals Project". The overall cost of this project is estimated to be $6,500,000.00 Achieve the scheduled completion date of December 31, 2028
