The work consists of the installation of approximately 18,000 feet of 2, 6, 8, and 12 inch diameter PVC water main throughout the City of Carencro. Approximately 1,600 feet of existing 8 inch cast iron water main will be pressure grouted and abandoned in place along North University Avenue as part of this project. Sealed bids will be received electronically or at the office specified. Bids received after the specified time will not be considered. Electronic bids must include electronic copies of the bid bond. Bidders must provide original documents within 48 hours of bid opening. Only a bid bond shall be submitted as bid security. Bids must be signed in accordance with LRS Title 38:2212(B)5 and include a Corporate Resolution or Certificate of Authority. The project is exempt from sales and use taxes. Bid documents, except certain standard specifications, are available for a fee, and may also be obtained electronically without a deposit. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond for 5% of the base bid plus additive alternates. Bid bonds must be from an approved surety or insurance company. The bond guarantees contract execution by the bidder if awarded, in conformity with the contract documents within 30 days. No bid may be withdrawn for at least 45 days after opening. The successful contractor must provide performance and labor and material payment bonds for the full contract amount. Bids will be evaluated according to applicable statutes and may be rejected for just cause. Contractors for this project must be properly licensed for MUNICIPAL and PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION, or Hazardous Materials classification if applicable. The City encourages participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in all contracts or procurements.
