Box 518 Great Bend, KS 67530 620-793-1816 cschartz@bartoncounty.org The 2026 Highway Striping Project includes painting centerline and edge line markings on approximately 97 miles of blacktop roads in Barton County, Kansas. Roads have been identified. Complete scope of project included in bid document. The project consists of approximately 97 miles of chip sealed roadways to be striped with 4" yellow centerline stripes, 4" white edge lines, and 4" white lane lines (where applicable). Refer to the Summary of Quantities for estimated linear feet of striping materials required. A breakdown of measured striping lengths for each location is available by contacting the Barton County Engineer. No removal of existing pavement markings is necessary prior to striping. Striping is to be as per the requirements of the 2007 KDOT Standard Specifications and applicable KDOT standard plan sheet dimensions and layouts unless otherwise noted. Glass bead application is to be at a rate of 7 lb. of glass beads per gallon of paint. Apply paint at a wet film thickness of 16 mils at an approximate rate of 3.4 gallons of paint per 1,000 feet of striping material for 4-inch solid lines. The Summary of Quantities reflects the actual feet of material required for each type of stripe. All quantities have been increased 10% for contingencies. The contractor is to apply the paint and beads at the plan rates stated above unless approved otherwise by the County. Traffic striping paint is to be a Standard Fast Dry Waterborne Traffic Paint meeting the requirements of Federal Spec. TT-P-1952F Type I and II. Glass beads are to meet AASHTO M 247, Type I specifications. 9. 10. The layout ofcenterline no passing zones will be done by Barton County personnel. 11. Payment to the contractor will be made based on actual quantities of work performed and materials furnished at the unit prices approved at the time of bid. Invoices for payment must be broken out as per the bid items. The owner reserves the right to increase or decrease the quantities based on field adjustments. 12. The commencement of the work is dependent on the County's progress in completing the planned chip seal work for this year. The contractor is to stay in contact with the County Works Director, Chris Schartz, at 620 793-1936 to determine the approximate date when striping may begin. The striping work is to be completed within 15 working days after the Notice to Proceed is issued
