Site work and paving for a road / highway in Gretna, Nebraska. Working plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

dentified as I-80, Sarpy County Interchange, the proposed project's location was informed through a Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) study conducted by the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and NDOT, in coordination with Sarpy County and the cities of Gretna, Papillion, and Springfield. Completed in 2022, the study examined existing infrastructure, traffic patterns, projected growth, and environmental and community impacts within the area. The purpose of the proposed project is to mitigate existing and future operational deficiencies for traffic at the I-80 interchanges with Nebraska Highways 31 (N-31) and 370 (N-370) and provide regional connectivity by ensuring there are appropriate linkages to I-80 within the study area. The need for the proposed project is based on anticipated traffic growth, which is expected to strain operations over the next 30 years. Additionally, limited access to I-80, where existing interchanges are spaced six miles apart, will result in longer travel distances as the area continues to grow. Preliminary design efforts are underway with construction of the new interchange tentatively scheduled to begin as early as 2027 and conclude by late 2028. The proposed project would require the acquisition of additional property rights, which would include new right-of-way (ROW), control of access (CA), permanent easements (PE) and/or temporary easements (TE). Commercial and/or residential relocations are anticipated. If your property is impacted by this project, you will be contacted by a representative once the design footprint has been established. Access to adjacent properties would be maintained during construction but may be limited at times due to phasing requirements. This open house is being held to provide information about the proposed project and gather input. Attendees are welcome to review materials, ask questions, share feedback, and speak directly with NDOT representatives. There will not be a formal presentation, and attendees may come and go at their convenience during the scheduled hours. NDOT will make every reasonable accommodation to provide an accessible meeting facility for all persons. Appropriate provisions for the hearing and visually challenged or persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) will be made if NDOT is notified by February 5, 2026. The public is encouraged to make suggestions or express concerns regarding the proposed project. Question Deadline 02/27/2026 Comments will be collected through Online. Written comments or requests may be submitted to: Emily Schweitzer, NDOT Public Involvement Specialist, PO Box 94759, Lincoln, NE 68509-4759; emily.schweitzer@nebraska.gov; 402-318-1324.
