Furnish all labor, materials, and equipment and perform all work necessary for the demolition of the Humboldt Junior High School. The work includes demolition of the existing building, including removal of all remaining building content, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, below-grade footings, foundations, and slabs, as well as selective demolition of existing paving, sidewalks, and stairs. The work also includes disconnection of existing utilities (electrical, telecom, gas, sanitary sewer, storm sewer) and new site improvements, including structural fill, grading, and concrete flat work. Bids are to be submitted as a single lump-sum bid for the entire scope, with the demolition contractor serving as the prime contractor and responsible for coordinating all work. Each bid must be made on the provided form and accompanied by a certified check or cashier's check (drawn on an Iowa or U. S. -chartered bank) or a bid bond for 5% of the base bid, payable to the Treasurer of the Humboldt Community School District. Bids must be sealed and plainly marked; any alteration of the bid form may result in rejection. Bid security for the two lowest bidders will be retained until contract award and execution, but no longer than 30 days. Bids are irrevocable for 30 days after submission. The successful bidder must furnish a performance and labor and material payment bond for 100% of the contract sum, issued by an approved surety. Bidders shall not include sales tax in their bid; a sales tax exemption certificate will be provided for all project materials. Proposals must be for the entire amount of work and in accordance with the provided bidding documents. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and waive informalities.
