The general description of the work is the trenchless construction of approximately 1,965 linear feet of 6-inch DR-18 PVC pipe and 188 linear feet of 6-inch DIP pipe; trenchless construction of approximately 73 linear feet of 14-inch steel casing pipe with 6-inch DIP carrier pipe; one fire hydrant assembly and removal of one fire hydrant assembly; one service connection; installation of all appurtenances necessary for seven main-to-main connections, including bends, valves, and fittings necessary to complete the work; testing and disinfection; pavement removal and PCC full-depth patches; and all other miscellaneous materials and work required to complete the project in accordance with the plans and specifications. The project is generally located along N. Washington Street from W. Depot Street to E. English Street; along E. English Street from N. Washington Street to N. Johnson Street; and along N. Johnson Street from E. English Street to the end of the line (900 N. Johnson Street). All bids must be submitted on official proposal forms furnished by the Engineer, enclosed in a separate sealed envelope, and plainly identified and addressed to the City of Corydon, Iowa. Each bid must be accompanied by a cashier's check, certified check, certified share draft, or a bidder's bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the City in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price to guarantee faithful performance of the contract and maintenance of improvements for at least one year from acceptance. The City reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for up to sixty days, reject any or all bids, and waive informalities and irregularities in the form of the bid.
