Renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Banff, Alberta. Completed plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel.
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, replacement and repair of concrete abutments, elastomeric bearing replacement, bridge jacking and shoring, replacement of structural steel bearing assemblies, installation of steel mesh railing systems, and replacement of timber bridge components, including spans, deck, and rail elements. Access to the site is restricted to pedestrian and equestrian means, with no vehicular access and very limited on-site staging or laydown areas. All construction activities, materials, and equipment must be transported to and from the site using existing trail networks and/or helicopter-supported access, requiring careful planning and coordination to safely and efficiently execute the work within a sensitive national park environment. All related bridge rehabilitation work, including site clean-up and demobilization, must be completed prior to August 28, 2026.
