Sealed proposals will be received from qualified General Contractors for the construction of a new driver's license office for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in Montgomery, Alabama. The work consists of approximately 17,500 square feet of new building and all trades incorporated in the General Contract. Bid documents may be obtained in electronic image format or as hand copies from the Architect or Alabama Graphics, for a specified fee. Bid documents are to be used solely for the purpose of bidding and constructing the project and are not to be copied. The award will be made only to competent and responsible bidders with the necessary experience and qualifications as set forth in the bid documents. Pre-bid qualification is not required. All bidders must be licensed under Title 34 of the Code of Alabama, with evidence clearly displayed on the proposal envelope. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Owner in an amount not less than five percent of the bid, but not more than $10,000.00, must be enclosed with the bid. A list of major subcontractors must be submitted as indicated in the supplemental instructions to bidders. Performance and payment bonds and evidence of insurance are prerequisites for contract award. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if deemed in the best interest of the Owner. Bidders must comply with all applicable state laws regarding fire alarm systems and tax savings programs.
