Reference Number 0000411774 Question Deadline 02/23/2026 at 4:00 PM MT Questions are submitted online Yes The University of Utah (U Facilities) is soliciting the services of qualified firms/individuals to perform design services for the following project: Full design services for the HVAC redesign of the north wing of the CVRT building. This space currently does not meet the requirements for fresh air ventilation in the lab spaces. The labs are located in the basement and first floor of the north wing. On the third floor of the building are offices that currently use window units. Project Location: 95 S 2000 E Salt Lake City, UT 84112 The design will need to incorporate mechanical, electrical, and structural components in the design. This is a historical building and any design done on the exterior of the building will need to be carefully considered. This is a large sized project that will be using capital improvement funding for the project. The project will be a design/bid project. The design team will need to work with a commissioning agent to ensure the DFCM high performance standards are met. As well as meet the University's design requirements. A study and SD phase of design have been completed previously and is attached with this RFP. Working closely with the building occupants as well as the health sciences district to ensure the University's requirements are met. In the lab space there are biosafety cabinets that use chemicals: Xylene, Hydrochloric Acid, Acetic Acid, Chloroform, Methanol, and ethanol. The design team needs to account for these chemicals in their design. The University of Utah reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to waive any formality or technicality in any proposal in the interest of the University. Construction Budget: $2,200,000.00 The existing electrical infrastructure is not adequate for a complete upgrade of the HVAC systems in the CVRTI building. The additional load of adding heat pumps and new condensing units will require improvements to the electrical infrastructure, however the existing service will be adequate for this upgrade. Panel MDPS contains (2) 100A spare breakers that are presently unused. Panel MDP contains (1) 150A spare breaker. Between the spaces opened through salvage of existing HVAC circuits and available capacity, the existing service will be capable of supplying the HVAC upgrade. Electrical Demolition Scope: - Disconnect and salvage existing circuits for (7) exterior condensing units, demolish existing disconnects - Demolish all interior circuits for wall mounted split system units. - Demolish - Trace and verify all HVAC circuits prior to demolition - Refer to EP100 (attached) for basement panel locations Proposed Electrical Scope: - Add new 120/208V, 3P, 150A, 24 space panel 'C-1' fed from existing 150A spare in panel MDPS. Locate new panel in existing electrical space adjacent to MDPS. o Power HP-1/2 from panel 'C-1' o Provide an 80A, 3 phase breaker for each HP o Provide a NEMA 3R, 208V, 3P, 100A heavy duty fused disconnect with 80A fuses at each HP o Provide (2) 208V, 1P, 20A circuits, one for FCU 1-10, one for FCU 11-19 from new panel C-1 - Replace panel 'B-1' with new 120/208V, 3P, 400A, 60 space panel o Power HP-3/4/5 from panel 'B-1' o Provide an 80A breaker for each HP o Provide a NEMA 3R, 208V, 3P, 100A heavy duty fused disconnect with 80A fuses at each HP o Demolish panel BB-1, relocate and extend circuits to new panel B-1 - Provide 100A, 208V, 3P, 100A fused disconnect and associated wiring for condenser CU-1 - Power condenser CU-1 from spare 100A breaker in panel MDPS.
