Description

Site work for a water / sewer project in Hagerstown, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The City of Hagerstown owns and operates a wastewater treatment plant capable of treating up to 8.0 million gallons per day of wastewater from the city limits and Washington County. The City also operates 25 pump stations and a wastewater collection system network. The plant has an average flow of approximately 6.0 million gallons per day. Liquid treatment at the plant involves headworks and preliminary treatment, primary clarification, biological nutrient removal for the elimination of biological and chemical oxygen demand, phosphorus, and nitrogen, followed by secondary clarification. The secondary effluent is filtered using upflow continuous backwash filters, disinfected, and discharged. Biosolids from the primary and secondary sedimentation processes are co-thickened using a dissolved air flotation thickener, pumped to a sludge holding tank, and then to a Pelletizer Facility to generate dried biosolids for beneficial use.
