The County of Tuolumne is seeking proposals from qualified individuals to conduct reforestation and release work related to the Master Stewardship Agreement with the USDA, Forest Service, Stanislaus National Forest on behalf of the Yosemite Stanislaus Solutions (YSS) Collaborative. The Rim Reforestation project consists of planting trees and performing release operations according to the specifications and alternatives approved in the Rim Fire Restoration and Reforestation Record of Decisions. Work will be carried out on approximately 2,500 acres within the Rim Fire burn scar within Tuolumne County, with planting not to exceed 560,000 seedlings. An estimated 2,500 acres will be planted with a combination of 1,128 acres of site-prepped units at 300 trees per acre, and 1,375 acres of previously planted units (interplanting) at 200 trees per acre, or until seedlings are exhausted, depending on plantability. Planting will occur between March 15th, 2026, and May 30th, 2026. Herbicide application will be done no later than June 30th, 2026, and manual release (hand grubbing) will occur between March 15th, 2026, and June 30th, 2026. Contractors will perform planting of provided seedlings, chemical release, and manual release (hand grubbing) post planting. All work, including order of unit treatments and required documentation of activities, will be prioritized or modified at the discretion of the County Project Manager, Forest Service, or Registered Professional Forester. Contractors must track and document all work, including numbers of trees planted, trees released, and quantities of herbicide applied. Detailed planting patterns, specifications, and requirements for care and handling of seedlings, planting spot and hole preparation, and filling and firming of soil are included, as are instructions for beginning work, attending pre-work meetings, and specific practices related to exclusion zones and species placement.
