The project consists of replacing the existing 6-inch diameter water main located on Marshall Avenue from St. Charles Road to Butterfield Road by installing 8-inch ductile iron pipe and fittings. The project includes installation of new valves, valve vaults, and fire hydrant assemblies, as well as replacing existing lead service lines with copper water service lines. Approximately 1,100 linear feet of eight-inch ductile iron water main will be installed, with new valves, valve vaults, and water service connections to feed residences. Restoration of immediate pavement areas, intermittent curb and gutter replacement, concrete sidewalks, driveways, and landscape restoration are also part of the work. Bidders must submit proposals on provided forms. All bids must be accompanied by a bid bond, certified or cashier's check in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total proposal, as a guarantee of entering into a contract if accepted. Bidders must be prequalified with the Illinois Department of Transportation to perform at least 50% of the value of the work. The successful bidder must file a performance bond equal to 100% of the bid. Contractors and subcontractors are required to pay prevailing wages as per the Davis-Bacon Act and comply with associated federal laws, including labor standards and affirmative action requirements. Bidders are required to provide sufficient insurance or indemnity to cover claims for damages to persons or property due to negligence during construction. The Village of Bellwood reserves the right to determine the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, waive irregularities, and reject any or all proposals.
