The work consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to install the following, including but not limited to: replacement of existing water mains including but not limited to, excavation, shoring, installation of approximately 12,800 PVC piping, fire hydrants, water services and fire services, valves, reconnection of existing services, potholing of utilities, abandonment of existing water mains/valves, removal and replacement of existing asphalt pavement, curb/gutter, sidewalk, cross gutter, and driveway. The work to complete the connection to the existing 8-inch main at the intersection of Clubhouse Drive and Carson Street is to be completed prior to any work within the project. The work also includes the installation of approximately 1,900 square feet of 3-inch-thick asphalt rubber hot mix (ARHM GC-CPG 64-16) and the 2-inch grind and overlay of the entire street on Downey Avenue from the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard to the intersection of Deerford Street. The work will not be considered complete and/or accepted until all work, including all pressure testing, bacteriological test acceptance, installation of services, and permanent pavement is placed and sealed. No bid will be considered unless it is made on a Proposal form furnished by the City. No Bidder may withdraw its Proposal for a period of ninety (90) days after the time set for opening thereof. Each bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified cashier's check, or a bidder's bond made payable to the City of Lakewood for an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the amount bid, such guarantee to be forfeited should the bidder to whom the contract is awarded fail to furnish the required bonds and insurance and enter into a contract with the City within the period of time provided by the proposal requirements. If a surety bond is submitted in lieu of the foregoing, it shall be subject to the condition that the surety thereon and the form of the bond be approved by the City Attorney.
