Site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Wheeling, West Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a 35,500-square-foot sidewalk / parking lot.
The project includes approximately 35,500 square feet of asphalt milling, 180 tons of asphalt scratch/leveling course, 360 tons of 1 1/2 " of asphalt overlay, removal and resetting of 630 feet of decorative fence, repair of 630 feet of the top block of the existing retaining wall, installation of 60 parking blocks, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous items. The work must be substantially completed within 90 calendar days after the contract times begin, and fully completed and ready for final payment within 105 days. Liquidated damages are set at $250 per day for delays. A two-envelope system must be used for bid submission. Envelope No. 1 should display the name and address of the bidder and "Bid on Contract - Paving & Retaining Wall Repairs," and include all documentation required by the Bid Opening Checklist. Envelope No. 2, labeled "Bid Proposal," must be placed inside Envelope No. 1. Only if Envelope No. 1 is in order will Envelope No. 2 be opened and read aloud. Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond payable to Wheeling Housing Authority in an amount equal to 5% of the base bid. Bidders are required to provide Drug Free Workplace Certification and must have a West Virginia Contractor's License. Bids may not be withdrawn for 90 days after opening. The Wheeling Housing Authority reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
