Site work and new construction of a military facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 40,000-square-foot military facility.
The Royal Canadian Air Force requires sufficient strategic Air Mobility assets with the capability to effectively support its core missions as outlined in Strong, Secure, Engaged: Canada’s Defence Policy. The Strategic Tanker Transport Capability project is anticipated to require new infrastructure for the Western Main Operating Base in Alberta, with the final location of the infrastructure yet to be determined. The project will include a two-bay hangar, new apron and taxiway, supporting infrastructure, and potential fueling infrastructure. The construction includes a two-bay hangar, apron, and taxiway for day-to-day operations, in addition to supporting infrastructure, with an estimated tenant net space of the hangar of approximately 40,000 square meters. The estimated cost of the proposed Modified Design-Build Contract is $550M. An Indigenous Benefits Plan outlining subcontracting opportunities for Indigenous Businesses and Peoples will be required in the contract. Bidders are required to hold or obtain all required security clearances prior to contract award, specifically a valid and active Facility Security Clearance at the level of SECRET granted or approved by the Contract Security Program, Public Works and Government Services Canada.
