Renovation of a mixed-use development in Santa Rosa, Texas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and educational facility.
Santa Rosa ISD is soliciting Competitive Sealed Proposals for Intercom System Upgrades at Santa Rosa High School and Jo Nelson Middle School. The project includes upgrades to the intercom systems and associated electrical work at these facilities. Plans and specifications are available from Ethos Engineering upon request. Santa Rosa ISD reserves the right to reject any or all submittals, waive technicalities, re-advertise, or proceed in the best interest of the District. Any questions concerning the Project shall be forwarded to the Electrical Engineer by email at Guillermo Quintanilla, gquin@ethoseng.net Question Deadline 02/20/2026 Proposers requiring clarification or interpretation of the Proposal Documents shall submit written questions 48 hours before the specified time of the bid. Project Description: Project includes construction and installation of a new fire protection system to include a fire riser room, sitework/utility work with the new proposed fire line from the city's waterline, adjustments to the existing fire alarm system to be integrated into the fire protection system, and interior finishes. The estimated construction budget is $400,000.00 plus or minus Scope of Work: "Santa Rosa ISD - Intercom System Upgrades at Santa Rosa High School and Jo Nelson Middle School" consists of existing multiple single-story buildings and an existing two-story building, approximate 218,900 sq. ft. Provide all materials and labor associated with complete operational systems. Major items of work include, but are not limited to: 1. Existing school intercom devices: before commencing any work, contractor is required to test all devices and document their status (functioning and non-functioning). The repairs will be handled separately by using spare materials or monies in the betterment fund. Testing and report are required to be completed within the first 30 days after notice to proceed. 2. Provide a new head-end system, including but not limited to hardware, switches, software, and programming as outlined on plans and school intercom specifications. 3. Wiring: the intent is to keep the existing, provide new wiring as required. 4. Existing devices: call-in switches, speakers, and outdoor horns are to remain unless they do not function (technology comparable) or are not in good condition. If so, provide new devices. 5. Existing intercom data fiber optic can be used to communicate between MDF and IDF rooms and new racks. Coordinate new school intercom racks fiber connection with SANTA ROSA ISD IT staff prior to commencing work. 6. Voice and Data Communication Cabling Equipment: Provide cabling, connectors, patch panels, switches, racks, etc. to utilize the existing SANTA ROSA ISD 7. IT fiber infrastructure to interconnect school intercom equipment located at MDF and IDF racks. 8. Hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and building exterior walls with speakers to be wired/transmit general announcements as separate zones as part of all-call. 9. Visual Displays: Contractor to provide and interface them with the new school intercom system. Coordinate programming with each campus end user. 10. Programming: contractor to engage with school staff to define all call, emergency announcements, groups of classrooms, etc. 11. Contractor would be allowed to use existing school intercom raceways, some are identified on plans, but not all of them. Contractor would need to confirm on-site prior to bidding. 12. Classrooms Wings and Portable Buildings (detached from main building): Provide new wiring and if necessary, raceways since the new intercom architecture wiring is using the existing fiber optic cable. 13. Sequence of Construction: The existing school intercom system shall remain in operation until the new system is ready for end-user to operate. The switchover shall be closely coordinated with SANTA ROSA ISD IT and school staff and be scheduled as not to disrupt school instruction. 14. Electrical requirements associated with work of this section. This includes the following: a. Power supply wiring to control panels, field-devices, and other devices requiring power at 120 volts and higher. b. UL listed plenum-rated cable may be used above ceilings. Control wiring in exposed locations shall be concealed in EMT conduit. 15. Demolition: Disconnect school intercom console for replacement. All existing wiring that are not needed shall be removed and properly disposed of. Underground raceways to be abandoned in place. 16. School Intercom Remote Access: Provide data network at head-end equipment for campus to receive messages (live spoken) via ethernet from school personnel away from campus. Provide all necessary hardware and software required. SANTA ROSA ISD IT to provide IP addresses. 17. Allowances: The Owner has set aside allowances for unforeseen circumstances. See Section 012100.
