The purpose of this IFB is to enter into a contract to provide a replacement kiln for Hurricane High School Ceramics. Question Deadline 02/23/2026 at 2:00 PM MT Questions Online Portal 1. General Specifications o Firing Volume: Minimum 18 cu. ft. actual stacking space. o Kiln Type: Front-loading, downdraft design. o Temperature Rating: Minimum Cone 12 capability. o Fuel Source: Natural Gas. o Certification: Must be ETL or UL listed to meet school district fire safety codes. 2. Construction & Insulation o Interior Lining: High-temperature insulating firebrick (IFB) with a minimum 2300F or 2600F rating depending on zone. o Structural Frame: Heavy-duty structural steel (angle iron and tube steel) with a heatresistant coating. o Exterior Skin: Minimum 16-gauge steel or stainless steel. o Preference: Ventilated double-skin construction to maintain low exterior surface temperatures. o Door: Heavy-duty hinged door with multi-point adjustable latching system and integrated viewport (spyhole) with plugs. 3. Burner & Safety Systems o Burner Type: High-efficiency natural draft venturi burners or forced-air system (minimum 4-6 burners). o Safety Shut-off: 100% electronic flame safety system with automatic gas shut-off in the event of flame failure or power loss. o Ignition: Push-button electronic spark ignition. o Pressure Gauge: Integrated gas pressure gauge (0-15" W.C). 4. Controls & Instrumentation o Controller: Digital programmable high-limit/soak controller for precise temperature monitoring. o Thermocouple: Type K or Type S heavy-duty thermocouple with ceramic protection tube. o Damper: Adjustable manual sliding damper for atmosphere control (reduction/oxidation).
