The project consists of improvements to the Drainage District No. 20 tile system. Work includes installation of approximately 21,389 linear feet of drainage pipe ranging in diameter from 12 inches to 36 inches, two road borings, and three open-cut road crossings. The project shall include all labor, equipment, materials, and incidental items necessary to complete the work in accordance with the plans and specifications. An alternate bid will be considered for the use of dual-wall HDPE pipe instead of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP). An additional bid includes the installation of approximately 3,885 linear feet of drainage pipe ranging in diameter from 12 inches to 15 inches. Each bid must be accompanied by bid security in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid (including all alternates). All bidders must be registered with the Iowa Division of Labor Services prior to contract award and must submit a completed State of Iowa Bidder Status Form with the bid proposal. Preference shall be given to domestic construction materials and Iowa products, provisions, and labor as required by law. The bidder shall not include Iowa sales tax in the bid. Work must commence upon contract approval and be fully completed no later than March 27, 2027. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a combined Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bond equal to 100% of the contract price, guaranteeing faithful performance, payment of labor and materials, and maintenance of the improvements against defects for one year from final acceptance. Liquidated damages in the amount of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for each day the work remains incomplete beyond the specified completion date. Payment for work done will be made based on monthly estimates approved by the Engineer, with ten percent (10%) retained until final acceptance.
