Removal and replacement of the brick and granite pavers at the Downtown Mall Crossings of 2nd St NW and 4th St NE. Installation of a custom drop inlet, concrete pipe, concrete curb, and sidewalk. The City of Charlottesville Public Utilities Division will also be replacing the drop inlet top on the NW corner of Main St and 2nd St NW while 2nd St is closed. Coordination between the Contractor and City will be important to ensure that this can be done without delaying the project. Work to Commence On Site:March 23, 2026 Substantial Completion:May 29, 2026 Final Completion:June 12, 2026 Each bid in excess of $200,000 submitted in response to this IFB shall be accompanied by a bid bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total monetary amount of the bid (total base bid plus all additive bid items). The bid guarantee may be either (i) a certified or cashier's check made payable to "The City of Charlottesville, Virginia," or (ii) a bid bond made payable to "The City of Charlottesville, Virginia." The bid guarantee shall be for the purpose of promising and guaranteeing that the bidder will not withdraw its bid for a period of 90 days after bid opening. The proceeds of the bid guarantee shall be and remain the sole property of the City, as liquidated damages, should the successful bidder fail to execute a contract, provide proof of all required insurance and endorsements or provide all required payment and performance bonds within five days of the City's issuance of notice of award of the contract.
