The proposed work is officially known as Section 24-00291-00-PV. The BASE BID work includes items such as tree removal, tree trunk protection, earth excavation, trench backfill, topsoil, seeding, fertilizer application, erosion control blanket, aggregate base course, PCC base, multiple types of hot-mix asphalt, PCC sidewalk, detectable warnings, pavement removal, curb and gutter removal, sidewalk removal, storm sewer installation, adjustment of water valves and structures, combination curb and gutter installation, mobilization, sign installation, thermoplastic pavement markings, traffic control, and removal and re-erection of existing signs on West Harbor Street in the City of Kankakee. The ALT BID 1 work includes similar items with different quantities and covers both West Harbor Street and Cobb Boulevard in the City of Kankakee. Proposals must be submitted on forms provided by the City of Kankakee, available at the office of Piggush Engineering, Inc., with a nonrefundable deposit for hard copies, and electronic copies available at no charge. A proposal guarantee in the form of a bank cashier's check, certified check, or proposal bid bond, as per the "Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition" by the Illinois Department of Transportation, is required. A surety bond for the full award amount is required. The prevailing wage rates as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor apply to this project. The right is reserved to reject any and all proposals and to waive technicalities.
