The scope of work involves furnishing labor, equipment, and new materials for the construction of the 2026 Iowa Lane Streets Intersection Improvement Project. Major construction items include approximately: 175 cubic yards of excavation, 290 square yards of pavement removal, 250 tons of modified subbase, 150 linear feet of 8" water main, one fire hydrant assembly, an 8" gate valve with box, an 8" gate valve with live tap, 540 square yards of 7" PCC street pavement, two urban road closures, 22 square feet of signs, 20 linear feet of perforated square steel tube post and anchor, 9,500 square feet of topsoiling and seeding, as well as lump sum items for construction layout and surveying, temporary traffic control, mobilization, and railroad protective insurance. The final scope will be determined by the City Council at the time of award based on the selected option. Proposals must be submitted on the provided form from the City Engineer and placed in a sealed envelope, accompanied by a bid security of 10% of the bid amount, which can be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, certified share draft, or bid bond as specified. The bid security must be unconditional and is subject to forfeiture if the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into contract within ten days after award and post a satisfactory bond. Bids cannot be withdrawn for thirty days after opening. Preference is given to Iowa products and labor. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. Work shall begin after substantial completion of the referenced Brackett Street project and must be completed on or before the specified project completion date.
