The work involves furnishing labor, equipment, and new materials for the construction of the 2026 North Grand Avenue CPKC Railroad Crossing Improvement Project in Charles City, Iowa. Major construction items include excavation, pavement removal, modified subbase, installation of sub drains, steel casing pipe bore and jack, water main, sanitary sewer CIPP lining, seeding, street and sidewalk pavement, construction layout and surveying, temporary traffic control, and mobilization. Bidders must use the proposal form provided by the City and submit it in a sealed envelope, along with a separate sealed bid security amounting to 10% of the bid, which can be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, certified share draft, or bid bond. Bid security is forfeited if the successful bidder fails to enter into contract or post bond as required. Bidders are not allowed to withdraw their bids for thirty days after opening. Preference will be given to Iowa products and labor, and the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive technicalities. The project must be completed by August 21, 2026. The successful bidder must furnish a performance bond equal to 100% of the contract price.
