Renovation of a municipal facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
This project involves mechanical and electrical upgrades in the Old Conservatory West Wing and West Palm Court, converting existing steam piping systems into hot water systems. The scope includes the Orchid, Fern, Stove, Serpentine, and the west side of the Palm Court glasshouses. Responsibilities include demolition and removal of existing steam and storm piping, installation of new hot water, storm, and domestic piping, and furnishing and installing a new heat exchanger with a circulation loop and pumps. Engineering services, HVAC load calculations, electronic design drawings, equipment selection and sizing, and submittal reviews are required under the direction of a professional engineer licensed in Pennsylvania. The electrical scope includes installing new raceways and wiring for all equipment, disconnects, and control wiring, as well as integrating Argus greenhouse building controls. Commissioning and programming are required. The majority of work should be completed from the exterior of the glasshouses, with specified construction and laydown areas. Contractors must pay prevailing wages, submit certified payrolls, and follow sustainable building practices. Proposals must include a team description with resumes, similar project experience, a project management plan, and a staged/sequenced narrative. A mandatory jobsite walk-through is required for all bidders. Proposals must be independently completed and include all engineering, material, and labor for a complete project, using specified bid forms and certifications. Insurance coverage as specified must be included, and proposals should account for all requirements listed. Question Deadline 03/10/2026 All requests for information must be submitted in writing via email to Michelle Allworth (mallworth@phipps.conservatory.org) and Pete Thomson (pthomson@phipps.conservatory.org).
