The City of Fairfield proposes to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety by closing the sidewalk gap along East Tabor Avenue and widening sidewalks on Tolenas Road. The project includes constructing approximately 500 feet of new sidewalk on the north side of East Tabor Avenue between Olive Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, installation of a new at-grade pedestrian crossing by Union Pacific Railroad, relocation of an existing driveway to the East Tabor Avenue and Olive Avenue intersection with associated parking lot improvements, and widening of the existing sidewalk from 4 feet to 6 feet along Tolenas Road. Bidders must furnish all labor, materials, transportation, and services necessary for construction and completion of the project. The work is subject to "Buy America" provisions, prevailing wage requirements, non-discrimination requirements, recycling requirements for construction waste, and Department of Industrial Relations registration. Bids must include a 10% bid guarantee, and the successful bidder must provide payment and performance bonds, proof of required insurance, and perform at least 50% of the work with their own organization.
