Site work for a fire / police facility in Sandusky, Ohio. Completed plans call for site work for a fire / police facility.
The project consists of replacing portions of eight-inch concrete within the drive/parking area at Sandusky Fire Station No. 1 located at 600 W Market St. The work involves replacing eight-inch concrete as marked out in the designated area and adjusting the catch basin within the replacement area. All contract items must be bid and completed in accordance with the most recent version of the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation, Construction and Materials Specifications, and in conformity with plans, special provisions, the proposal, ODOT standard construction drawings, and City Standards. Concrete shall be placed to ensure positive drainage of water to the adjacent grass areas or consistent with the slope of the driveway if within a drive apron. Quotes must be submitted via email no later than 1:00pm on Friday, March 6, 2026. 8" PLAIN PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE COMMERCIAL DRIVEWAYS AND DRIVE APPROACHES: Concrete shall be in place with sawed or tooled joints and includes: removal and disposal of existing concrete; a minimum of 3" of No. 411 compacted aggregate base below new concrete pad and/or approach; include rebar or pins to abutting concrete, cost includes the concrete, curing and finishing; backfilling the edges of the walk with compacted topsoil (653) and installation of 8" x 1/4 " pre-molded expansion joint in place as directed. Concrete in driveways shall be QC1, MS or FS concrete, as directed, and cost for this shall be included in the unit price. 614 MAINTAINING TRAFFIC: Signs, lights, and barricades used to protect vehicular and pedestrian traffic and the work while the Contract is in force shall be the responsibility of the contractor. No separate pay item is included for this work. Cost must be included in other construction items. 604 MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS, INLETS, INSPECTION WELLS, JUNCTION CHAMBERS, PRECAST REINFORCED CONCRETE OUTLETS, OR MONUMENTS ADJUSTED TO GRADE: Existing castings shall be salvaged and cleaned to be reused by the Contractor. The contractor shall only be responsible for adjusting existing and new castings to the existing grade using fire brick. The Director of Public Works shall notify the City Sewer Maintenance Division of any structures that need to be re-built, removed, replaced, or re-constructed prior to the placement of concrete. The City shall be responsible for mortaring any joints, and constructing or re-constructing any manholes, catch basins, or other drainage features. Contact shall be made with the Sandusky Fire Department two weeks prior to work at their property to coordinate access to the garage bays while work is being done. Notify OUPS as required. Contractor shall take necessary precautions to not damage curb, gutters, roadways, drive aprons, catch basins, manholes, sidewalks, or any other infrastructure or personal property within the public right of way or on private property. If damage occurs, the contractor shall repair or replace the damage to conditions similar or better than what existed prior to construction. This includes any cracks or depressions in the roadway because of tracks or feet on the equipment. Contractor shall utilize portable concrete washout pits as needed throughout the project to comply with storm water requirements. Costs for this shall be included in the concrete items. Work is to be carried out in a professional workman like manner. All areas will be kept as clean and clear of rubble as possible at all times. If in the opinion of the Director of Public Works or his representative the worksite presents a danger to worker or the public, work on the job shall cease until the workplace is returned to safe conditions.
