Plans call for a new 200,000-square-foot Welcome Gateway Building atop a 400-space underground garage at Calhoun Street and Clifton Avenue. Serving as the university’s main entry point, it will include a bookstore, café, 1,200-seat auditorium, rehearsal spaces, art galleries, classrooms, and multiple public engagement areas. As of April 30, 2026, the design-build firm for the project has not yet been announced. The construction notice to proceed is scheduled for October 2026, with substantial completion anticipated in January 2029. Additional details regarding the selected firm, construction phases, and final timeline have not yet been released.
