The purpose of the project is to provide demolition and installation of the replacement of two parallel ultra-violet disinfection systems located at the County's Tolchester wastewater treatment plant located at 22010 Bayshore Road Chestertown MD 21620. The County has pre-purchased the replacement equipment. The equipment is manufactured by the same company that provided the original installation. Mattson P.E., CFM, CME, Director of Public Works, at dmattson@kentgov.org. Responses to questions will be issued by written addendum. Kent County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. It is the intent of these specifications to cover all aspects of demolition and installation warranted by this RFP. Any incidental or additional work required to fulfill the requirements of the specified work shall be considered a part of said specified work and no additional payment shall be made. All work shall be performed in accordance with the prevailing code for the trade or trades involved and shall be done in a first-class workmanship manner. Inferior or shoddy workmanship or materials will not be tolerated nor accepted for payment. It shall be fully understood that the Department of Public Works shall make the final decision as to the acceptance of all work and material and that in the event of an adverse decision, no claim of any sort shall be made against the county or any of its employees, agents, or assigners. Demolition and replacement must be performed separately on each of the two parallel units in order for the County to maintain permit disinfection requirements. The County will be responsible for disposal of the existing system to recycle the components after demolition by the contractor. Work will include removal of the existing power systems and replacement with two new panel mounted electrical systems. The Contractor is responsible for supplying all necessary wiring, electrical panels, piping modifications, channel and transition box block supports as required to provide a functional working system in accordance with the manufacturers installation requirements. All work will be performed in accordance with the B.O.C.A. Basic Building Code, County Electrical Code and all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
