Site work and renovation of a communication facility in Palmer, Alaska. Completed plans call for site work for a communication facility.
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) is requesting bids from qualified vendors to remove antennas that were damaged during the December 2025 windstorms and install new Borough-supplied antennas on the communications tower at Station 5-1 located at 1911 S. Terrace Ct. Palmer, AK 99645. The project is for the Station 5-1 Communications Tower Wind Repair. Bids are requested from qualified vendors to remove damaged antennas and install new borough-supplied antennas on the communications tower at Station 5-1. Questions or requests for clarifications must be directed to the Boroughs Purchasing Office. Questions or requests for clarification directed to any other member of the Borough staff or consultants may be grounds for rejection of proposal as being irregular. Scope of Work: The MSB is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to provide all labor, tools and transportation necessary to remove damaged antennas, and install and align the following equipment on the tower located at 1911 S Terrace Ct Palmer, AK. The MSB will provide antennas and associated equipment as described below. All antennas and materials will be transported the day of installation by MSB Telecom staff, unless an otherwise agreed upon plan is made with the contractor to ensure efficiency. The contractor shall inspect and inventory the MSB-furnished materials required for installation at the site as specified in this SOW; the Borough shall be notified of any discrepancies within 5 days. The equipment is stored inside the Department of Emergency Services (DES) Radio Communications Shop at 630 E. Steel Loop, Palmer AK. MSB materials provided for installation include antennas, mounts, strong arms, coax cabling, and grounding. The contractor will remove (1) damaged 6' microwave antenna and associated strong arms and EW63 Waveguide attached to the Tower at 100' on the Southwest leg of the tower. The contractor will install a replacement 6' Andrews microwave antenna (Model #AND-HX6-6W-6WH) and strong arms at the same location. The contractor will relocate the Aviat 6Ghz ODU radios from inside the communications shelter to the tower via fixed mount. The contractor will utilize LMR 600 coaxial cable from the communications shelter to the re-located radios and attach to the antenna with EW63 Flex-Twist connector. All cabling, mounts, and connections will be provided by the MSB. The contractor will remove (1) damaged 6' microwave antenna and associated strong arms and EW63 Waveguide attached to the Tower at 95' on the North leg of the tower. The contractor will install a replacement 6' Andrews microwave antenna (Model #AND-HX6-6W-6WH) and strong arms at the same location. The contractor will relocate the Aviat 6Ghz ODU radios from inside the communications shelter to the tower via fixed mount. The contractor will utilize LMR 600 coaxial cable from the communications shelter to the re-located radios and attach to the antenna with EW63 Flex-Twist connector. All cabling, mounts, and connections will be provided by the MSB The contractor will position and align (2) microwave antennas with the assistance of MSB technicians on the ground. The contractor will only need to provide a single side alignment to the best possible receive signal levels based on the path calculations provided. All coaxial snap-in hangars, stand-off hangars, boots, and angle adapters will be provided by the MSB. Connectivity will be verified after alignments with MSB staff on site. Pictures of installation and path alignment levels shall be recorded and documented with a digital copy sent to the MSB after installation and alignments are complete.
