Valve operability directly impacts the degree of risk in the City’s water system. The City seeks a contractor to field-test valves for operability, assess valve condition in the system, and deliver a data set that can be easily integrated into the City’s GIS system. Of the City’s geodatabase of 1,251 valves, 202 valves were assessed in 2025. The City intends to continue an uninterrupted valve inspection and operation program, targeting each remaining valve over three years under an annual contract with an annual option for renewal, upon the satisfaction of both parties. The focus is on continuing the identification of operable and inoperable valves, not on the treatment or replacement of inoperable valves.
