Site work for a road / highway in Mendon, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.
The work consists of installing radar speed limit feedback signs powered by solar batteries on US Route 4 at the east and west ends of the Village of Mendon, Vermont. The site for installation must allow a clear view of the sign from the roadway for at least 500 feet and be free of trees, large street signs within 200 feet, and preferably not face intersections or bridges unless it is at least 400 feet away. The sign should be placed in locations to provide the best traffic calming effect and radar detection zone. The installation requires Class B concrete (3000psi) with a footing depth of 4 feet and width of 2 feet, including 4 anchor bolts, a flexible conduit for a #6 grounding wire to a ground rod, and four #6 Bars shorter than the footing height. All construction is to comply with VAOT 2011 Standard Specifications, Town of Mendon Highway Specifications Class 3 Roadway, Agency of Transportation Standard D-33, and 2009 MUTCD for traffic control. Road access must be maintained during construction. Bidders must use the provided bid sheet, submit three references with experience in similar projects, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws. Minority and women-owned businesses are encouraged to bid. Bids may be hand delivered, emailed, or mailed to the specified location before the deadline, titled "Solar Powered Radar Speed Limit Signs Project." The lowest qualified bid will be chosen based on bid price, qualifications, and references.
