Site work for a civil project in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.
The project consists of upsizing the culvert crossing in Alston Creek, located between the Commonwealth Road/Darrell Creek Trail and Commonwealth Road/Deer Creek Road intersections. The work includes replacing the existing dual 48-inch reinforced concrete pipes (RCP) with larger capacity culverts, specifically a new double 10 ft * 5 ft concrete box culvert at the Commonwealth Road crossing of Alston Creek. The project includes removal and disposal of the existing pipes, excavation and installation of the new box culvert, associated grading, roadway reconstruction, paving, utility coordination, storm drainage improvements, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings, erosion and sediment control, landscaping, and grassing. Additionally, the project involves installation of a new waterline valve and replacement of an existing 8 inch waterline within the Mount Pleasant Waterworks system. All waterline work must be performed by a Mount Pleasant Waterworks approved contractor. The pipe removal and culvert installation will occur under a full roadway closure during the summer of 2026, with the Contractor required to adhere to all schedule requirements and time restrictions specified in the bid documents.
