The project consists of two playground installations at the Barnum Elementary School site. One playground covers a 45' x 65' area designed for children ages 2-5. The second playground covers 110'x 125' and is designed for students ages 5-12. Both installations include playground surfacing installation. The project will be coordinated with other site improvements taking place at the Barnum school site. Each bidder must accompany their bid with security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as assurance that the successful bidder will enter into a contract and furnish a corporate surety bond for 100% of the contract amount after the award. The security required and its form are specified in the contract documents. Bids must be unconditional except as provided in the specifications. The successful bidder will be required to provide a corporate surety bond for 100% of the contract price that guarantees faithful performance of the contract, prompt payment of all materials and labor, and protection of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District from any claims or damages caused by contract operations. This bond also guarantees maintenance of the improvements for two years from contract acceptance, except that new paving will be guaranteed for four years. The contractor must complete all improvements and associated work for the Barnum Elementary Playground project no later than August 14, 2026. Liquidated damages of $250.00 per calendar day will be assessed for failure to complete the work within this timeframe. THE TOTAL BASE BID PRICE FOR THIS PROJECT MUST FALL BETWEEN $475,000 TO $500,000. Preference will be given to products, provisions, and labor from within the State of Iowa as required by state statutes. Resident bidders will receive preference against nonresident bidders if their state or country provides preferential treatment for its own bidders or labor force. All bidders are notified that minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on grounds of race, color, or national origin. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
