Sealed bids are invited for the purchase of Water Softening Salt to be used in the treatment of potable water. Each bid must include the full name and address of every person or company interested in the bid. Bids must be accompanied by a personal bond in the amount of 100% of the bid, or by a certified check, cashier's check, or irrevocable letter of credit for 10% of the bid, all payable to the City of Athens, Ohio, as a condition that a contract will be entered into within sixty days if the bid is accepted. A performance bond of 100% of the contract amount with an acceptable surety company is required for contract performance. Prospective bidders may obtain bid specifications electronically by providing a valid email address. The City of Athens reserves the right to waive informalities as may be in its best interest.
