New Hanover County is seeking qualifications from firms to provide complete design services for repurposing the existing Cape Fear Museum of History and Science. The project involves transitioning the building from a public-facing space to a collections and internal operations site. The work will be completed in two phases: Phase 1 – Space Needs Assessment, Concept Plan, & Budget Estimate - Evaluate existing conditions - Work with end users to identify needs - Develop a concept plan for the project(s) - Develop budget estimates for each part of the project - Determine an estimated timeline for each project Phase 2 – Full and complete design services - Includes architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, interior design, signage, site work, utilities, construction administration, and assisting with permitting with authorities having jurisdiction and utility providers - Participation in selection and collaboration with the Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R) delivery method Instructions to bidders: - Submit Statements of Qualifications by mail to the specified address. - The deadline for receipt of Statements of Qualifications is specified in the advertisement. - Statements of Qualifications are confidential until contract award and execution. - Firms may be contacted for interviews. - Complete requirements and submission instructions are available at the County's website. - The County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Statements of Qualifications and to make the award most advantageous to the County.
