Renovation of a museum in Scituate, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.
Replace shingle roof and other repairs at historic Cudworth House & Barn. Roof replacement: Shingle remove and replace with premium grade cedar shingles similar and nominally dimensioned to match the existing style in place on the two buildings. Removal and proper disposal of allmaterialsfor both buildings; clean up and removalof all wastematerials forthe property is critical in orderto maintain a safe and neat professional appearance. Magnetrollersto pick up any loose nailsrequired. Tyvek Protec 160 or equal will be added for application underneath all new shingles. All shingles to be grade "A" premium cedar shingles that match the dimension of the existing shingles and coursing should be closely replicated as far as existing shingle spacing. Any drip edge missing above windows or doors will be added. Any drip edge above windows and doors in poor shape to be replaced with new drip edge as determined in the field. New drip edge to be zinc coated copper. Chimney cap inspection and repair: The existing chimney cap on the Cudworth House will need to be inspected and required repairs will be made to match the existing cap conditions. The cap is to be made to seal and be weather and leak proof. Trim and fascia repair: A complete and full inspection of the existing trim and fascia boards for both buildings should be included for the project. As necessary this work will be brought to the attention of and direction of the Town's project manager, These repairs will be made after this work is reviewed on site with the Town's project manager. All trim and fascia will be painted to match the existing. Interior beam replacement: In the Cudworth House on the second level there is an exposed and notched wooden beam. This beam is sagging and needs to be replaced with a similar style, aged wood, and with matching joinery and craftsmanship to match the existing interior roof configuration and conditions. All details for this work will be reviewed in advance with the Town's project manager to assure acceptance of the repairs procedure. Any temporary bracing and or supports to conduct this work will be the responsibility of the contractor. All necessary precautions should be taken to assure that the artifacts in the building will NOT be damaged. This project must be completed no later than July 31, 2026.
