Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in San Rafael, California. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Improvements for this project will generally include replacing crosswalk striping, sections of concrete curb and gutter, asphalt grinding/milling, hot mix asphalt plugs and fill, sidewalk, and accessible curb ramps. Improvements shall also generally include the removal and relocation of a catch basin and street signs, utility adjustments, and the new installation of a storm drain pipe, manhole, and concrete island medians with accessible curb ramps. The work will take place on minor arterial, major collector, and local roads in San Rafael and Kentfield. The Contractor shall possess a valid Class "A" License at time of bid submittal. To bid on this project, the Bidder and all subcontractors are required to be registered as a public works contractor with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to the Labor Code. The Bidder's and all subcontractors registration must remain active throughout the term of the Contract. A Bid Bond, cash, certified check, or cashier's check, in the amount of 10% of the total bid amount payable to the County of Marin shall accompany the Proposal. Bids are required for the entire work described. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Marin reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities. Award of contract, if awarded, will be to the lowest responsible bidder whose proposal complies with prescribed requirements, and will be within sixty (60) days after the date of the Bid Opening. The County may extend the specified award period if the Lowest Responsive Responsible Bidder agrees. If the Lowest Responsive Responsible Bidder does not receive or accept a County request to extend the award period before 4:00 pm on the last day of the award period, the bid becomes invalid and is not eligible for award. At the successful Contractor's option, securities may be substituted for the required retention, in accordance with the provisions of Section 22300 of the State of California Public Contract Code. Pursuant to Public Contract Code Sections 7201 and 9203, the County of Marin shall retain 5 percent of the contract price until final completion and acceptance of the project. There is no pre-bid meeting scheduled for this project. Deadline 03/31/2026 05:30 PM EDT Questions concerning the Bid should be submitted via electronically no later than 5 p.m. on the specified date. Inquiries or questions based on alleged patent ambiguity of the plans, specifications or estimate must be communicated as a bidder inquiry prior to bid opening. Prior to submitting a bid, the Bidder shall visit and inspect the project site to become thoroughly familiar with all conditions that may affect the performance and cost of the work, including but not limited to existing underground and overhead utilities, the steepness of terrain, roadway width and curvature, and any constraints related to staging areas and site access. The Bidder shall also verify that a minimum 12-foot-wide traffic lane can be maintained throughout construction and that such a lane can be safely protected using appropriate barriers, such as K-rail or equivalent, in accordance with contract requirements and applicable traffic safety standards. The Bidder's failure to adequately investigate and assess the site conditions shall not relieve them of the obligation to perform all work in full compliance with the contract documents and at no additional cost to the Owner. This contract is subject to state contract nondiscrimination and compliance requirements pursuant to Government Code, Section 12990. In any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business and woman owned business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or national origin. This is a public works contract subject to the provisions of Part 7 of Division 2 of the California Labor Code (Sections 1720 et seq.) and all prevailing wage laws.
