The work consists of maintenance dredging of selected critical shoals within the Main, Port Newark, and Port Newark Pierhead Channels of the Newark Bay Federal Navigation Project. Approximately 300,000 cubic yards of material will be removed to authorized depths of -40 feet and -50 feet Mean Lower Low Water, plus one foot of allowable overdepth. The dredged material, consisting primarily of silt and clay, will be mechanically dredged using a closed clamshell environmental bucket and transported by barge and tug for dewatering, processing, and final placement at contractor-furnished, State-permitted upland placement site(s). The work includes all activities necessary for dredging, transportation, transfer, dewatering, processing, and final placement of the material, while maintaining a minimum integrated production rate of 2,500 cubic yards per calendar day. All placement activities must comply with applicable Federal, State, and local requirements, and the Contractor is responsible for obtaining and providing all required permits and approvals associated with material transportation and disposal. The estimated range of this project is between $25,000,000 and $100,000,000.
