Sealed proposals are requested for "East Orange School District - Interior Alterations at Johnnie Cochran Academy." A. The purpose of the project is interior renovations of the existing Johnnie Cochran Academy building to accodate new learning spaces and support spaces. Work includes ceiling demolition, minor wall demolition, new stud walls, flooring, acoustical ceiling tile, lighting, controls, electrical and mechanical . B. This Section provides an abbreviated summary of the work for the Construction Contract associated with the Owner's program to construct the project. C. In the event that any of the provisions in the technical specifications conflicts with the general conditions, the provision more favorable to the owner, as determined by the owner in its sole discretion, shall govern. The work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Ceiling demolition 2. Selective demolition of walls 3. New ACT Ceilings 4. Demo of existing lighting and new lighting 5. Demo of existing controls and new controls 6. new ERVs 7. New Metal Stud & Drywall 8. Single use Bathroom renovation 9. Fence repair 10. New Pedestrian gate 11. Building electrical upgrades 12. Project closeout submittals. MOBILIZATION May 1st 2026 SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION: August 19st, 2026 FINAL COMPLETION: 10 working days after substantial completion Question Deadline 03/31/2026 at 7:00 AM ET the Bidder will immediately forward a request in writing to the Owner, who will then send written interpretations to all Bidders. Every request for such interpretation shall be addressed in writing to the Owner and, to be given consideration, must be received by 5 pm, ten (10) business days, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays excepted, prior to the bid due date Bids must be made on the standard proposal form, enclosed in sealed opaque envelopes with the project name and bidder's address, and addressed to the Business Administrator, East Orange School District. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond for ten percent (10%) of the total bid amount as a commitment that, if accepted, the bidder will enter into a contract and provide further required security for faithful performance. Certification of the bonding company is also required. Bidders must hold their bid price for sixty (60) days after bid opening. All bidders and their subcontractors must possess specified DPMC classifications (C008 or C009 for bidders; C030, C032, and C047 for subcontractors) and be registered with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Required documents include a Pre-qualification Affidavit, a valid and active Notice of Classification, a certified copy of Total Amount of Uncompleted Contracts Form, and various certificates and registrations as detailed in the instructions. Bidders must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including affirmative action and business registration requirements. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder whose bid meets all material requirements. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive minor informalities.
